During this talk, the procedural rhetoric’s and MDA framework will be used to analyze game mechanics through the lens of meaning-making. What we lose in the process of focusing solely on comfortable experience will be explored. After all, game mechanics can be as persuasive as story and aesthetics.
Since 2012 Magdalena Cielecka has been working as a producer at Artifex Mundi, being responsible for developing adventure game titles like Clockwork Tales, Grim Legends series. She is also a doctoral student at the Institute of Audiovisual Arts of the Jagiellonian University in Cracow researching procedural rhetorics and polyphony of dialogue structures in narrative games.
