Artifex Mundi – My Brother Rabbit
Studio based in Katowice, Poland currently hiring over 140 people. There are more than 40 titles published in the Artifex Mundi portfolio and a new game is added every 3 weeks. Their multi-platform releases are downloaded roughly 12 million times per year by people playing on PC, consoles and mobile platforms.
My Brother Rabbit is a beautifully drawn exploration adventure and puzzle game set in a surreal world that mixes reality with a child’s imagination.
Let’s bury the User Experience
During this talk, the procedural rhetoric’s and MDA framework will be used to analyze game mechanics through the lens of meaning-making. What we lose in the process of focusing solely on comfortable experience will be explored. After all, game mechanics can be as persuasive as story and aesthetics.
Magdalena Cielecka
Since 2012 Magdalena Cielecka has been working as a producer at Artifex Mundi, being responsible for developing adventure game titles like Clockwork Tales, Grim Legends series. She is also a doctoral student at the Institute of Audiovisual Arts of the Jagiellonian University in Cracow researching procedural rhetorics and polyphony of dialogue structures in narrative games. Given numerous talks on both academic and gamedev business events like ZTG, WGK, MFKiG, Ars Independent, STARTIFY7, DiGRA, GamesLit, CEEGS.
