“Squadron 303” moved Chinese audiences.

The festive opening of the 3rd edition of the Circles of Art in China Festival took place in Beijing at 25th october 2018. Chinese audiences had an opportunity to see a premier screening of “Squadron 303” and confront their impressions with the actor playing the lead role – Maciej Zakościelny.

The film “Squadron 303” familiarizes us with the less well known, outside of Poland, story of Polish pilots, who had a significant impact on the decisive Battle of Britain. It’s plot was constructed according to genre conventions, full of air combat and daring tales of the Polish division. After the screening, Chinese audiences had a chance to talk to Maciej Zakościelny. And many questions followed…

Viewers found analogies between Chinese and Polish history and at the same time, they said how much they were moved by the film’s story. The name Witold Urbanowicz came up often, an ace of Polish aviation, who contributed to China’s efforts during their conflict with Japan. Chinese media – including the national CCTV – interviewed Maciej Zakościelny. In her speech, the representative of the China Film Archive in Beijing underlined how important and promising the Festival is in building Polish-Chinese relations and a mutual understanding of our cultures.
