A live history of jazz

On November 10 during the workshop at the Yunnan Arts University in Kunming, students listened to a lecture by Wojciech Konikiewicz on the history of jazz, with live illustrations by the Circles of Art Orchestra.

Chinese listeners learned about the in-depth history of jazz and the way it developed – from blues and the pentatonic scale to more complicated forms, all the way to artists like Miles Davis and the Weather Report becoming household names.
Freedom, reacting to your fellow player, improvisation and pure joy from this wonderful music – these features make up the essence of jazz, and were presented to the public by the musicians, with key pieces from the given times.
